LMS Meaning

LMS means learning management system. A learning management system is a digital learning environment that manages all aspects of a company’s various training efforts. It also manages user information for personalized delivery including their user profile, job functions and preferences.

HR teams and training and development specialists use LMS environments to maintain all types of eLearning courses and track completions and results. They can also track learners’ progress. LMS activities can be instructor-led or e-learning courseware. Individual learners can track their skills and competencies and improve upon or add to their skillsets.

In addition to managing, tracking and delivering training, an LMS provides valuable analytics on an organization’s training effectiveness. An LMS can also assist in coordinating training with development efforts, such as mentoring and performance reviews.
