Just over a year ago, Ken McDonald left the corporate banking world to become Director of Finance for Life Enriching Communities. Switching from for-profit to non-profit is just one of the big differences Ken noticed. “Because people live here, we operate 24 hours and weekends, we have food service, laundry, entertainment,” said Ken. “When I have lunch in the cafeteria, I’ll wait in line with our residents. It’s fun to be around them.”

Life Enriching Communities (LEC) operates Twin Towers and Twin Lakes senior living communities. Founded in 1899 by the United Methodist Church, LEC offers its nearly 800 residents independent living, assisted living and licensed nursing care for their changing needs. “We embrace a wellness philosophy, where the delivery of service focuses on the whole person, not just their medical needs,” said Ken. He is in charge of payroll, AP, billing and accounting for the company, which recently became a Paycor client. LEC employs approximately 600 people – most of them full-time hourly.

LEC uses Paycor for Windows (hosted) and HR Plus. “We like them a lot,” said Ken. “Compared to us doing it in house, it’s a world of difference, much more peace of mind. I don’t have to keep up with all the changes in tax laws – Paycor does all that for me.” He said LEC uses Export Wizard extensively. “Paycor has been great to deal with as far as creating reports unique to us. It’s very easy to use, pretty easy to pick up on.”
